I quit smoking at New Years, cold turkey and successful.
My umm.. female partner… claims to have observed that I have larger erections after quitting smoking. It makes sense in a way due to the constriction of blood vessels and whatnot.
If anyone with more knowledge could elaborate, I would appreciate it.
It truly does not matter, because I am larger than average and quite happy. Still, I find this fascinating.

sparkey
i have never heard of it
its a shame i dont smoke !! lol!!

Bob B
Yeah, I’m larger than average too… and it takes a lot of blood flow to fill up the big monsters like ours. Smoking can really hinder your cardio vascular system, and keep the big ones from getting fully inflated.

Jim T
Yes, the substances in cigarettes smoke clog up the arteries. Cig smoking is a major contributor to erectile dysfunction. Most people know this.

Rolf123
you mean a “stiffer” erection (coz you might have a larger erection yet with a softer than sponge c**k).

It is possible if you stop scaring it with your cig (LOL)…just kidding…

That’s possible coz your blood vessels would be cleaner (and it’s blood that fills these things)

Brandon
never heard of it

I haven’t smoked in 24 days, and this past week especially I have been experiencing shortness of breath, mostly when exercising. It feels like I can’t draw a deep breath but like I am holding my breath at the same time! I can’t run as far or fast, and I want to know if anyone knows of any ways to make it better? Internet forums seem to indicate it can take up to several years to feel better! I smoked for ~10 years, between 1/2 and 1 pack a day…

This is really the only bad symptom from quitting I have left. I exercise daily, so I’m already doing that … any ideas?

Thanks for any help!

mrs. brightside
It sounds like Asthma.
Then again, if you can get air into your lungs, but you can’t get the air out, it could also be COPD.

I suggest scheduling an appointment with your physician to find out exactly.

mrsunshine56987
hi ya

i think a trip to ur gp would b wise, if u have not smoked with 1 month din it should b improving. but i think its ur body cleaning itself out keep up the good work xxoo

Dyane B
It does take about 3 to 6 months to really clean some of the crud out of your lungs once you stop. If after 6 months you are still having SOB get to your GP or Pulmonary Doctor.

Lindsey H
Good for you! That’s quite an accomplishment indeed!

What are some things you really enjoy? (Aside from nicotine.)
Try to reward yourself with something you enjoy.

I’ve heard some people replacing smoking with something else.
Something healthy of course.
Try finding something to fill the void of smoking,
like jogging or reading or taking a walk with the dog.
Things like that, you know?

Congrads on the near two month quit, and I hope the progress continues for you!

meemz
this calls for a celebration, go buy yourself a fresh pack! you’ve earned it!

Crys
Good job!

Well, what do you like? Like what would be your ideal reward?

(For example, if I wanted to reward myself I would take a day for myself, with no worries, sleep in, watch some movies with my man, eat ice cream, yumm)

HenryF
If you quit smoking, you save money. It’s as simple as that. In this day and age of economic struggles and penny pinching, something as simple as a few extra bucks is very appealing. So how do you reward yourself? Go use the money you saved from quitting smoking! Buy a book, eat at fancy restaurants, buy small household appliances that you enjoy using, or even go on trips! All of these will certainly bring some good in your life than smoking.

I’ve been smoking cigarettes for a little over three months.
Recently, I’ve been coughing a lot more, although it occurs more frequently at night and is often present with other symptoms – like a runny nose, sneezing….But generally I have been coughing up a lot more phlegm than I ever have.

However, I have had some chest pains and sometimes I feel like my heart is beating faster than it should be. I know some of my symptoms sound like a cold, but basically what I was wondering if smoking can be the answer to these problems? I smoke a MAX of 6 cigarettes a day, I’d say an average of 4, sometimes less.

I am in otherwise good health – I’m also around kids (young ones, and college-age ones) all the time, so I’m more likely to catch colds, if that has anything to do with it.

I was also wondering how long it would take for something like Chronic Bronchitis to become a problem associated with smoking. Also, I am well aware that I’ve already done massive amounts of damage to my body; however, my health risks aren’t the same as with a long-term smoker, are they?

I plan on quitting very soon. I’d appreciate any responses to save the lectures on how dumb I was to start smoking along with the benefits of quitting; thanks.

Thank you for all of your help.

bill rules
either your allergic or it’s all in your head. I used to have Chronic Bronchitis but it stopped 16 years ago when i started smoking,, go figure

Nathalie
Ive been smoking for 2 years and I do feel like my health is getting worse. I was told if u start coughing more after smoking it can be really dangerous… I know a man who was coughing out pieces of his lungs (!!!) but he was smoking 40 cigarettes a day and for long-long years…. try not to smoke just after ur meal or when u feel hungry. I dont know how true it is, but I suppose it also depends on quallity of cigarettes. smoking is even more dangerous when u`re over 35 years old. one thing for sure – it`ll be really hard to give it up….

Tom
It may just be allergies and the time of the year. When I’ve smoked in the past it’s been short periods of time, and usually when my allergies were acting up. It always seemed to help.

Have you tried different brands, switching to or from menthol, maybe clove? Clove is very good for a sore throat, at least it helped me – all folks are different.

No preaching from from your bro here, I never smoked heavily, mostly for medicinal purposes and about as much as you are smoking.

—

Then I got married….. since her dad has smoked several packs a day of unfiltered Camels for decades, no cigarettes for me!

Well, they are supposed to be bad for me. Being hit over the head with heavy furniture was *worse* for me, so I’ve not done any seasonal or social smoking. lol

nightmusic
I don’t know about three months, but I started having symptoms I know were caused by cigarettes after one year. I woke up with pains in my stomach that were alleviated with my first deep breath of the day. At the same time I started having trouble taking deep breaths in general as I went through my day. I was 18. I think it is possible the cigarettes are affecting you.

Linda
I would suggest you go to a real doctor, not Yahoo answers and get yourself checked out. Maybe quitting smoking really is the easy way out and you don’t have a serious health problem, maybe not.

Your smoking may be aggravating a pre-existing condition that you didn’t know you have, like heart disease. Chances are, the smoking has just speeded up the process (i.e. hardening of the arteries) by a few years.

Also, you started smoking for a reason. Most people use smoking to reduce stress. The other symtoms may be stress related. Ask you doctor and good luck with that.

Who has personal experience with the best way to quit an addiction?I am a smoker who desperately wants to be done with the whole addiction… but cold turkey is sooo hard for me. I can go 3 days without smoking, but I haven’t been able to make a week. Does anyone know the best method to use? Nicotrol, Nicoret, etc.
What really works?

No smart-azz remarks, please!!

artic t
cold turkey
and if you fall
get back up and try again (aliyah)

Topher L
Get a freind to shock you everytime you put a ciggy in your mouth. thats how i got off the donut.

cardiackid65@sbcglobal.net
3 days is how long it takes for most of the nicotine to get out of your system. You need to push past this. Piling on more nicotine isn’t the answer. I quit cold turkey about 10 years ago and I still get the occasional cravings……hang in there!

johnny j
get something to make you busy if you feel like to smoke

Angela H
Well I am an ex smoker been quit since a RATT concert in 1999 got so drunk was sick for days could not stand to smoke a cig, let alone smell one again ,but i took all my old cigarette butts added water to them and let them sit placed them in a jar when i got to craving one id smell the product of it it turned my stomach so bad after doing this for 2 months had not smoked since used to be 2 packs a day good luck
